Real Love Is Possible

Posted in art, artists, beauty, judaism, life, love, photography, relationships, spirituality, swami satchidananda, yoga by the consummate on January 4, 2011

“Don’t love only your fellow humans. Love everyone and everything equally. All things are your fellow beings, not only humans.

By loving everything, you are really loving yourself. Everything is nothing but the expression of yourself. If you stand in front of a mirror, you love that reflection. You smile at it and it smiles at you. In the same way, the whole world is your projection. You love because you are made of love; not because you have to love. The scriptures say to love your neighbor as your Self. You don’t love your neighbor as an individual; you love that person as your Self.

That means you have to see your Self in the other person. Real love is possible only when you see everything as your own expression. All others are none other than you; they just appear to be different. We always need to go beyond the name and form. When we rise above the worldly limitations, we will find that the essence is the same.

Om Shanthi, Shanthi, Shanthi”

A Great Elephant Deep In The Forest

Posted in animals, art, artists, beauty, Feminism, life, love, photography, relationships, spirituality, yoga by the consummate on January 3, 2011

Repost from 10/2009 – such is the advice I am taking upon my life again.

I love this quote. I find it to be so serene and noble. And for a while I used this as a mantra to mend a broken heart.

But if you do not find an intelligent companion, a wise and well-behaved person going the same way as yourself, then go on your way alone, like a king abandoning a conquered kingdom, or like a great elephant in the deep forest. – Buddha

The Golden Present: Nothing Is Impossible To Accomplish

Posted in beauty, family, friendship, health, judaism, life, love, photography, relationships, spirituality, yoga by the consummate on December 9, 2009

9 December

Nothing Is Impossible To Accomplish

The entire life is based on imagination. In a way, you are also imagining in meditation. In meditation, you think of God. Have you ever seen God? No. So you are imagining, “That must be God. God should be like this. God should be like that.” That is your God. Another person would imagine the same God in his or her own way. That is why even God’s form varies according to the person who imagines God. That is the proof that everything comes from within.

In meditation you are imagining something that you want to ultimately become or develop. “God is almighty, God is all-powerful, God is all-forgiving, God is all love.” You constantly think of certain things and the mind assumes that image, assumes that quality. But one thing is important: you should think strongly. You should be strong enough in your suggestions. That is what you are trying to develop in your meditation. You are strengthening your thoughts by constantly thinking of the same thing. To make yourself strong in your thoughts, you have to keep on dinning that into your mind. “This is what I want to become. This is what I want to become.” That means you imagine that you are going to be like that – that you are that. Then certainly you will become that. Once you achieve that kind of thought power, nothing is impossible to accomplish.

But I’m Still, I’m Still An Animal

Posted in animals, art, artists, beauty, health, life, love, photography, relationships, spirituality, yoga by the consummate on October 16, 2009

Aminal – Miike Snow

There was a time when my world was filled with darkness, darkness darkness.
Then I stopped dreaming, now i’m supposed to fill it up with something, something, something.

In your eyes I see the eyes of somebody I knew before, long long, long ago.
But I’m still trying to make my mind up, am I free or am I tied up?

I change shapes just to hide in this place, but I’m still, I’m still an animal.
Nobody knows it but me when I slip, yeah I slip, I’m still an animal.

There is a hole and I tried to fill it up with money, money, money.
But it gets bigger to your hopes, it’s always running, running, running.

In your eyes I see the eyes of somebody who could be so, tell me if i’m wrong.
Now i’m pulling your disguise up. Are you free or are you tied up?

I change shapes just to hide in this place, but I’m still, I’m still an animal.
Nobody knows it but me when I slip, yeah I slip, I’m still an animal.

Jesus Diamante

Posted in art, fashion, health, life, love, photography, WTF by the consummate on September 9, 2009

well, well, well…

i stumbled upon the Jesus Diamante site recently. WOW. i’m taken aback. pre-Sophia Coppola exposing the world to contemporary Japanese culture or as i like to call it, japanophilism, i was slightly obsessed with the styleeeee. my friend esther grew up in tokyo and would take me to little tokyo in downtown LA back in the 90’s. i’d buy all the mini mags i could find as well as hella product. WHY on earth does japanese shampoo smell better than any other shampoo on earth? it must be the pretty sparkles on the packaging. no one can beat the packaging. ANYWAY. the mags were amazing. plus they come with some sort of prize often (as they do in Europe only BETTER because it’s Japanese and not European).  i was always into the hair color Japanese women chose – that not quite blonde with a hint of red in it. i wanted to get my hair did in that color. but alas, it just wouldn’t look right on me. not only was it the hair that lured me in, it was the art direction, the over all style of the content and design. it was like a full-sensory explosion on the pages of a print magazine. AMAZING. my love for the slightly obnoxious had just reached its pinnacle.

nevertheless, it is in that same guise that i chose to highlight JESUS DIAMANTE. i came across the site because i jacked borrowed one of the images for my twitter profile pic so i decided to check out the entire site. and OH DEAR JESUS, or should I say OH DEAR JESUS DIAMANTE. this is obscene. so much lace and faux floral one could puke. they even give the madonna inn a run for its money. and that is a HUGE statement for me to make. i’d like to see them expand from an online retail shop to a full on amusement park. can you imagine what the restrooms would look like!?

here are a few images i grabbed from the site. i’ll have to contact esther to find out exactly what’s going on here. but from the pics you can get a sense of it.

Suffice to say this is something that i am seriously pondering writing a dissertation on. that is, if i go for a PhD. academics aside, no one can front on JESUS. DIAMANTE that is.
